I'm feeling a little tentse.

I blame the Tiger.

Tents/Tense? oh never mind, I'll get my coat!

Let me explain. When I started cleaning up the plastic tents from Rendra. I remembered a scene in a Movie showing a bit of detail on how they looked with some inside shots as well. I thought that it was in the Movie Zulu Dawn so watched bits of that that showed tents but did not find the views I was looking for. About a week later I was on Youtube which suggested that I watched again a clip from Monty Pythons Meaning of Life.

Monty Pythons Meaning of Life - Zulu War

I started by putting some tent poles in the open tents and prepped two of the camp beds to put inside a couple of them. I was a bit worried about Painting the Tents either too white or having them looking too dark. I started with a white undercoat and then put a wash made up of a mix of Agrax Earthshade and Devlan Mud thinned down with Lahmian Medium. They still looked too dark so put on two coats of very thin poster paint and then finished off with some Vallejo White.

I don't know who made this single tent as I have had it for years in the spares box.
The rest are from Rendra.

Tea Vicar? These Tea boxes are from Ainsty. I did some research but could not find exact details on them. I know that some were standardised square to fit into ships. These match the Tea chests I used when I moved from the UK to New Zealand in 1987. They are sold as Trade Goods on Ainsty's site so hope they suit the Zulu War era.

These Tents will also suit my intended WW1 Demo game.

I have two camp beds and the fires to paint but they will be done when I come up with a way of making some stoves and general Kitchen terrain.

British Command and Zulu Witch Doctors

I had finished these figures just before the Demo Game but did not get a chance to photograph them till afterwards.

The first two were not used in the game as I do not have any Swazi and had no use for a single British  figure. I will repaint his cuffs as an Engineer at some stage.

Casting Room Witch Doctor and Doctor figures. Each Section of the Zulu Army has one of these.

Pauleine and Melvill.

Building for Beersheba

I am planning to do a Demo game about the Battle of Beersheba on this coming ANZAC Day. I have most of the buildings I think that I will need but a couple more will not be a wasted effort.

This first Building is very loosely based on some of the infrastructure which the Germans built for the Railway system. The Buildings were built in a European style which at first look may seem a bit odd in this setting. The water was raised by Kerosene powered pumps which were housed in the buildings.

I have made a trough on the higher level with a pipe, which has a gate to allow water to build up before being allowed to flow to the lower level. All parts for this were from the spares box. The hill was originally made for Vietnam years ago before I decided to put hills under the drop cloth. The roof was just thin plastic card, scribed and then cut into strips. The painting of the roof was a happy accident when I over thinned the paint. The flowing water was made out of clear sprue, heated and then stretched and bent into shape.

The next building is an Airfix resin building which I got on sale. It lacks some detail so I added doors and frames from Balsa wood. I also added some Granny Grate for the smaller windows.

The well was made from plastic card bent around some mdf rings that I had drilled out for some reason years ago.

Battle of Nyezane II

My opponent Tyrone who was Commanding the British in this game took these photos.
